Announcement
Valheim 1.0 is on Omnipass — here’s how the settings work
12 September 2026
Valheim 1.0 is on Omnipass. 🎉 Your Pass can run the full release, Freeze still keeps the world safe, and the Gameplay page finally makes the Ashlands-era modifiers feel human.
Under the hood, 1.0 changed how saves are stored: each world is a folder under worlds_local, not a lone .db file. Freeze already follows that layout, so parking and thawing a 1.0 world stays boring in the good way.
Hosting at home instead? The click-by-click guide is still here: Host a Valheim dedicated server on your PC.
⚙️ Where the knobs live
On your Pass, open the world and hit Open settings. Everything below sits under Access and Gameplay. Valheim gameplay changes need a short restart to apply. Edits stack in the Apply rail first, so you can nudge a few things, then commit once.
One important detail: every boot starts from Iron Gate’s Normal preset, then applies exactly the flags you chose. Leaving a modifier on Default really means “put it back to a normal Ashlands run.”
Inside the Pass (Nordland):

🔐 Access (everyone)
- Password — always on. At least five characters. There is no open Valheim server.
- Crossplay — only turn this on if console friends need in. It uses a relay and needs about +2 GiB on the Pass.
- Backups kept — Valheim’s own on-disk rollback count (how many world rollbacks the game keeps). Separate from Omnipass Freeze.
⚔️ Gameplay modifiers (the vibe of the run)
These five set the feel of the world. Default is a normal Ashlands run. Nudge easier for new co-op with kids or mates after tea. Nudge harder if you want the challenge.
- Combat — how hard fights hit, for you and for them.
- Death penalty — what you lose when you die, up to hardcore skill resets.
- Resources — stingy world or generous loot.
- Raids — how often the night comes for your base, including none.
- Portals — portals always work; this only limits how much ore you can carry through.
🧩 Switches (creative, chill, or hardcore)
Flip these when you want a different kind of evening:
- Free building / Free crafting — build and repair without spending mats. Great for a creative night.
- All recipes / All building pieces — unlock the catalogue from day one.
- Build anywhere — no workbench babysitting.
- Events near players — random events only bother people who are actually online nearby.
- Passive creatures — dial wildlife aggression down.
- Map shown / hidden — keep the map, or go proper exploration hardcore.
Gameplay up close:

🙌 Who should touch what
- Family / first Viking week — soften Combat and Death penalty, bump Resources, cut Raids. Leave the creative switches off so it still feels like Valheim.
- Chill mates after tea — Defaults are fine. Maybe Much less raids if base raids wreck the mood.
- Creative build night — Free building, Free crafting, Build anywhere. Turn them off again before a survival arc.
- Hardcore exploration — harder Combat/Death, scarcer Resources, Map hidden. Only if everyone agreed.
- Console friends — Crossplay on, and make sure the Pass has the extra memory headroom.
Spin up Valheim on omnipass.gg, open settings, and make the world match the people who will actually play it. Skål.
