Announcement
Your worlds just got a proper safety net
28 September 2026
Something we’ve wanted on every Pass for a while is live now, and it’s on the house. 🛟
You can now keep your own backups of a live world, pull them down when you need them, and lean on a short rolling history of days you actually played. No add-on. No tier jump. Just quieter nights when someone builds something they really don’t want to lose.
📍 Where it lives
Open a live world, head to the server page, and look under the console for the Backups panel. That’s the whole surface.

On the Pass: Backups sits under the console.
🗂️ Your copies
Take up to three manual backups whenever you want. Hit the limit and you’ll delete one before you can take another. Each ready copy can be downloaded, restored, or deleted.
Restore puts that copy back on the live world (it’ll pause briefly), and we take a safety copy of what’s there first. That safety copy counts toward your three, so you’re never flying blind into a restore.
📅 Daily copies
We also keep up to seven daily backups on a rolling basis, but only for days someone was actually playing. We check for players about every ten minutes. Games that don’t report a player count still count while the world is running.
Idle calendar days don’t fill the list. You get the newest seven days with real play, not a week of empty slots.
⬇️ Downloads and frozen worlds
Every ready backup is downloadable. Parked or frozen worlds get a one-click download on the freezer row too, even if the Pass has lapsed. Take the world home with you.

On the Pass: download from the freezer even when a world is parked.
✨ Quick clarity
This isn’t Freeze (parking a world). It isn’t Valheim’s in-game “Backups kept.” And it isn’t the quiet hourly snapshot we keep for ops. It’s your copies, on your Pass, when you want them.
We’re properly chuffed this shipped. Go make one backup “just in case,” then go build something worth keeping.
